Scene 1: All sound in this scene is diegetic
  • The pan at the beginning is accompanied by silence- This is used to build tension and allows  the audience to focus on the mise en scene of the sequence.- Diegetic
  • The next clip is Luke getting up there will be a quite rustling of bed sheets - Diegetic
  • There will be a phone opening click sound when Luke reads the texts from his mother- Diegetic  
  • Next there will be a sound of Luke pulling up his zip- Diegetic
  • sound of Luke running downstairs-Diegetic
  • sound of key in door- Diegetic
  • sound of door opening- Diegetic
  • sound of door closing - Diegetic
Scene 2: all sound in this scene is diegetic
  • Silence other than birds tweeting- This is used to emphasise the abandonment - Diegetic
  • Loud footsteps- Exaggerates the silence- Diegetic
  • Knocking on a door- As well as Luke shouting for his mother- Diegetic
  • The sound of the pulling out of the newspapers- Diegetic
  • The sound of the Phone being dialled which is followed by an answer phone message- Diegetic
  • Then a loud beep- Diegetic
Scene 3:
  • Birds tweeting and the diegetic sound of them walking - Diegetic
  • Then begins a monotone narration (As this happens a quite dramatic music begins)
  • sound of footsteps- Diegetic
  • sound of rustling clothes in the dead body scene- Diegetic
  • sound of lighter flicking on -Diegetic
scene 4:

  • sound of characters talking about the wood running out of wood - Diegetic

Conventions of the Post-apocalyptic genre  Levi Stratuss (Binary Opposites)  Levi Stratuss came up with the theory in which there are a pair of related terms or concepts that are opposite in meaning. They are an opposite set of values which reveal the structure of media texts. For example is Good and Evil and Life and Death. The values do not contradict one another but instead complement each other. The theory suggests you can't have one without the other maybe in a symmetrical way.  Another example is Heaven and Hell.  The post-apocalyptic genre is a very diverse as many different people have different takes on how the world ends. The Book Of Eli closing scene analysis

The Book Of Eli Closing scene Mise-en-scene: The protagonists costume is significant as he is dressed in all white which makes him look almost angelic which mirrors his faithful and committed character and even presents him as the messenger of God that he is implied to be. He is now baud and clean shaven, this physical change to his appearance makes Eli look younger and untouched by the cruel world that he had to endure, it almost looks like he is preparing himself to go to heaven.  Endless amounts of bible pages that Eli has mouthed out are a significant prop as it shows Eli's decadaction to his faith, bring able to remember the entirety of the Holy book. In the next shot the bible is now being printed as Eli must have finished his task, there are multiple being printed showing that the bible can now be given to all people that need it and that it isn't to be kept in isolation with Eli anymore.
